PODCAST CATEGORY: Law Enforcement

Are you a leader? Is your leadership style effective? Sorry…not in a position of leadership? According to Chief Stephen J. Tanner, if you are in law enforcement you are responsible to lead others towards safe outcomes. Essentially, leadership is serving, and serving is…leadership.

Meet our good friend and returning guest – Chief Stephen J. Tanner, the longest serving active Chief of Police in Canada at 20 years in that position. Now serving in Halton Region, Chief Tanner is a glowing example of leading through example. He explains he isn’t ‘over’ the people in his police agency, he works ‘with’ them. Big difference in mindset. HUGE.

In today’s podcast we discuss such topics as: – Starting from the bottom – Doing something nice for someone else – every day! – Leadership as the ability to get along with other people and have positive relationships – Leading from within

With a calm and endearing approach, Chief Tanner has navigated his career with a heart of gratitude, a humbleness to learn, and a servant attitude in leadership. After 40 years, and still smiling, there’s a lot we can all learn from his example.

Ladies and gentlemen – Chief Stephen J. Tanner.
